About the Event

ABOUT THE EVENT (by GPG)

A celebration of our community growing projects

Over the last few years we have seen so many great projects sprouting up in Penarth - it's really wonderful to see. From GPG's Penarth Growing Community, and Penarth Civic Society's Tree Forum and multiple 'Friends of' groups, volunteers are coming together across our town to grow and care for trees, support local food and biodiversity, and connect with each other.

We've tried to map this - https://penarthgrowingcommunity.co.uk/penarth-green-spaces/ - but it's tricky to keep the list up-to-date!We'd like to organise a community celebration and get-together - an opportunity for all the different growing and green groups to come together to share updates, ideas and learning.  GPG and Penarth Tree Forum will be hosting this event at Cosmeston Orchard, on Thursday 12 September, from 5.30 - 7.30pm

We are hoping to be joined by Vale Local Nature Partnership and VoG parks, but the event will be very informal.  A chance to visit the orchard at Cosmeston to see how well it's doing and for each group to share a brief update of the work they've been doing.  There'll also be a chance for us to discuss how we can work together, and support each other, over the next few months and years, to make Penarth an even greener, sustainable and nicer place to live. Please bring a folding chair or picnic blanket plus some refreshments if you'd like to, and we'll advise of any weather-related changes to our plans closer to the time!
